as medicinal ways
temporary shelter
as insectisides
as food
as scented oils
Answer:
1. For a plant to remain wholesome and to thrive, leaves supply nourishment and air. The photosynthesis process is how leaves convert light energy into food. Leaves "breathe" in carbon dioxide and "breathe out" oxygen through pores called stomata.
2. Chlorophyll, the green pigment, is found in leaves. The leaf's green tint is a result of chlorophyll. The process of photosynthesis involves the utilization of chlorophyll. Leaf food is produced.
3. On the underside of the leaves, there are tiny pores called stomata that aid in the exchange of gases and water vapor. The rate of transpiration increases as the stomatal holes open, and the rate of water loss decreases when the pores are closed.
4. Sclerophylly refers to hardened leaves that play an active role in plant defence against herbivores by lowering the palatability and digestibility of the tissues, reducing herbivore damage. Plant structures such as spines, thorns, and prickles are examples of spinescence.
5. Water accumulates in the plant, causing a small root pressure. Water is forced to exude through the leaf tip, hydathodes, or water glands, forming droplets as a result of the root pressure.
