Answer:

The view that "selling and chewing paan should be banned" because of the mentioned reasons appears to be an excess.

Explanation:

Paan is a common and traditional delight in many South Asian countries, which has an old history.  It is a post-meal mouth freshener and mostly those people consume it who suffer from constipation issues. Betal leaf, paan, is good for health, for instance, it prevents ulcers and beneficial in fat burning, and has a positive impact on the cardiovascular system. It is a fact that many ingredients in paan such as areca nut and tobacco are carcinogenic and have serious health consequences, but these are ingredients of different derivatives of paan. A typical paan contains Katha, cloves, fennel (saunf) and gulkand (sweetened rose petals). All these ingredients are healthy. There are many malls and general stores that sell cigarettes and cigars but there has never been a demand for shutting them. Paan spittle is an ugly sight and can be a cause of many diseases, that seems not to be a cogent reason for banning paan. It is more associated with the lack of civic awareness among the masses. Civilized people who consume paan either carry spittoon or spit it out at appropriate places. Rather than banning paan, it is needed that people are enlightened about these anti-health ingredients and anti-environmental practices.

Hope it has answered your question.

Answer:

Good morning everyone present; I am here to express my views in favor of the motion ‘Selling and chewing 'paan' should be banned’.

Though eating paan is quite popular in our country, yet it is quite hazardous. Ingredients of paan are: betel nut, herbs, spices and often tobacco, wrapped in a betel leaf.

Research has also confirmed that betel itself can raise the risk of cancer, so chewing betel without tobacco is harmful. It may lead to the heightened risk of mouth or esophageal cancer.

People who eat paan make their surroundings dirtier a well as unhygienic by spitting around.

Keeping in view the harmful effects of paan, and paan masalas’ selling should be banned.
