Arteries
- These vessels carry blood from the heart to various body parts.
- Carry oxygenated blood from the heart except the pulmonary artery.
- Blood flows under high pressure.
- Absence of valves.
Veins
- These vessels carry blood from the various parts to the heart.
- Carry deoxygenated blood from the body parts except the pulmonary vein.
- Blood flows under low pressure.
- Valves are present to prevent the backward flow of blood.
