"(X Y)'s 6 day's work = 6∗1/30=15

"remaining work = 1 - 1/5=4/5

"4/5 of work is done by Y in 32 days

"whole work can be done by Y in {32 * 5}/{4} = 40 days

Let the total unit of work be 480 units. (LCM of 30 and 32)

X and Y together complete the work in 30 days.

(X+Y)do=

30/480

=16 units/day

According to the question,

16×6+Y×32=480

Y×32=384

Y=12

Y does =12 units/day.

Y alone can complete the work =

12/480 = 40 days.
