Hey Dear,

# Complete question should be -

Q. 4 years ago Ramu‘s age is the square root of his father's age. Now the age of Ramu and his father are in the ratio 1:4. Then what is Ramu’s age?

● Answer -

Ramu's age = 10 yrs

◆ Explanation -

Let x & y be present age of Ramu & his father.

Presently,

x/y = 1/4

y = 4x

4 years ago,

x - 4 = √(y - 4)

(x - 4)² = y - 4

x² - 8x + 16 = 4x - 4

x² - 12x + 20 = 0

(x - 10)(x - 2) = 0

x = 10 or x = 2

But x = 2 yrs not possible cause, Ramu age must be mote than 4.

Thus, Ramu's age is 10 yrs.

Hope this helped you.
