4 years ago, the ages of kanchan and khusi were in the ratio 3:4 and at that time the sum of their ages was 42 years. find their present ages.

$= > \frac{(x - 4)}{(y - 4)} = \frac{3}{4} \\ \\ = > 4(x - 4) = 3(y - 4) \\ \\ = > 4x - 16 = 3y - 12 \\ \\ = > 4x - 3y = 4..................(1)$

=> ( x - 4 ) + ( y - 4 ) = 42

=> x + y - 8 = 42

=> x + y = 50

=> x = 50 - y.......................(2)


⚫Plugging in Value of x from (2) In Eq. (1)


=> 4 ( 50 - y ) - 3y = 4

=> 200 - 4y - 3y = 4

=> -7y = -196

=> 7y = 196


➡Y => 196/7 = 28

=> x = 50 - 28


⚫Age of Khushi is 28 years .

⚫Age of Kanchan is 22 years .
