The total number of students is 48.

The students depicted kindness in helping the people affected by the cyclone.

Given: The total amount to be contributed = Rs. 1000

In class 8, 2/3rd of the class gave 20 each, 1/6 th of the class gave 15 each, and the rest of the class gave 30 each.

To Find: The total number of students and the value that is depicted through this act of students.

Solution:

Let the number of students in class 8 be = x

It is said that 2/3rd of the class gave 20 each, 1/6 th of the class gave 15 each, and the rest of the class gave 30 each.

So, the remaining students = x - ( 2x/3 + x/6 )

                                             = x/6

The total amount contributed by 2/3rd of students = 20 × 2x/3

The total amount contributed by 1/6th of students = 15 × x/6

The total amount contributed by the remaining students = 30 × x/6

We know that each class contributes = Rs. 1000

So, framing an equation, we get;

     ( 20 × 2x/3 ) + ( 15 × x/6 ) + ( 30 × x/6 ) = 1000

 ⇒ ( 80x + 15x + 30x ) / 6 = 1000

 ⇒  125x = 6000

 ⇒ x = 48

Hence, the total number of students is 48.

The students depicted kindness in helping the people affected by the cyclone.
