The amount of water in the mixture is :

10/100 × 40 = 4 litres

The amount of milk is :

90/100 × 40 = 36 litres

The ratio is 9 : 4

If the water percentage becomes 20% then the amount of water will be :

10% —> 4 litres

20% —>?

20/10 × 4 = 8litres

The amount to be added is :

8 - 4 = 4 litres
