Amount of water = 10% = 10/100x 40=4 liters amount of milk 40-4=36 liters. Milk 10 = 40 liter; water 100 = 1 liter; mixture 20= 40l x l= 10*40 + 100x = 20 (40+x)x=5. The answer is 5 liters of water.

Solution :

40 litres of milk contain 10% water

it means

10/100 x 40

= 4 liters of water

if 40 litres of milk contain 20% of water it means

= 20/100 x 40

= 8 liters of water

8 liters of water to be required

20% of water is 8 liters
