SEE HERE IS GIVEN THAT .....

AMOUNT OF MILK IS 40L

AND 10% OF WATER IS IN IT

MEANS QUANTITY OF WATER IN IT IS .....

=40*10/100

=4LTR .....

NOW WE NEED 20% OF WATER IN IT .....

MEANS WE. HAVE TO FIND 20% OF 40L

SO 40*20/100

=8LTR

AND TO GET THAT QUANTITY WE HAVE TO ADD THE WATER IN THE PREVIOUS QUANTITY......

SO IT WILL 8-4=4LTR .....

SO YOUR ANSWER IS 4 LTR WATER SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE MILK TO GET 20% OF WATER ......
