Therefore in 60 hours, 24 machines can produce '360' screws.

Given:

40 machines produce 1000 screws in 100 hours.

To Find:

The number of screws produced by 24 machines in 60 hours.

Solution:

The given question can be solved very easily as shown below.

Now we have to find a number of screws 1 machine can produce in 1 hour.

⇒ Number of screws produced by 40 machines in 100 hours = 1000

⇒ Number of screws produced by 40 machines in 1 hour = 1000/100 = 10

⇒ Number of screws produced by 1 machine in 1 hour = 10/40 = 1/4

A machine takes 1 hour to produce 1/4th part of the screw.

Now,

⇒ Number of screws produced by 1 machine in 60 hours = 1/4 × 60 = 15

⇒ Number of screws produced by 24 machines in 60 hours = 15 × 24 = 360

Therefore in 60 hours, 24 machines can produce '360' screws.
