Given:

Total population of men = 40%

Total population of Women = 48%

Number of children = 19,440

To Find:

Number of men and women

Solution:

Percentage of children = 100− (40+ 48)

= 100 - 88

= 12%

Population of children = x of 12%

Thus,

19440 = x of 12%

= 19440 x 100/12

= 162000

Total population = 162000

Now,

Population of men = 162000 x 40%

= 162000 x 40/100

= 64800

Population of Women = 162000 x 48%

= 162000 x 48/100

= 77760

Answer: Population of men is 64800 and women is 77760.
