Let the total population of a town be x.

Given that 40% of the population of a town are men and 39% are women.

The % of children = 100 - {40 + 39}

= > 100 - {79}

= > 21%.

Given that number of children is 12600.

= > 21% of x = 12600

= > 21/100 * x = 12600

= > 21x/100 = 12600

= > 21x = 1260000

= > x = 1260000/21

= > x = 60000.

Hence, the total population = 60000.

Now,

Given that 40% of the population of a town are men.

= > 40% of 60000

= > (40/100) * 60000

= > 24000.

Therefore, the number of men in the town = 24000.

Hope this helps!
