40 percent passenger from the train got down at station A,60 percent of the reasoning passenger got down at station B. if there were still 540 passenger in the train. how many passenger were there before station A provided no are boarder the train at station A and station B​

Let that number be p

0.4p got down at station A

then remaining = p - 0.4p = 0.6p

0.6 of 0.6p = 0.6×0.6p = 0.36p got down at station B

So total number of people got down = 0.4p + 0.36p = 0.76p

So the number remaining = p - 0.76p = 0.24p

Now 0.24p = 540

p = 540/0.24 = 2250
