Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Since each row or column must have more than 1 student... So let's start by putting 2 students in a row; now the number of students in every row must be same so there has to be 20 rows to accommodate 40 students, and also it's clear that the number columns is equal to the number of students in a row. So 1st possible arrangement is 2x20. We can't put 3 students in a row else one student will be left out. 2nd possible arrangement is 4x10 i.e. 4 students in each row of class containing 10 rows. Similarly other possible arrangements are 5x8, 8x5, 10x4, 20x2.

Thus there are 6 possible arrangements:

1) 2x20

2) 4x10

3) 5x8

4) 8x5

5) 10x4

6) 20x2

Hope it helps!! :-)

2 students are absent.

Given:

40 students in a class.

Each student is sitting one after the other occupying 1 bench at a time.

They got a task to count themselves that how many students are present on that day.

They started counting from 1 and finished at 38.

To Find:

We have to find how many students are absent.

Solution:

This is a problem for simple counting.

Let us tackle this problem.

We can easily solve this problem as follows.

According to the question,

There are 40 students in a class.

They got a task to count themselves that how many students are present on that day.

They started counting from 1 and finished at 38.

Therefore, there are 38 students in the class.

So, (40-38)=2 students are absent.

Hence, 2 students are absent.
