Question :

40 sweets are in a jar. 50% are red, 25% are yellow, 15% are green and the rest is blue. How many sweets are blue?

Solution :

Total no of sweets in the jar → 40

50 % are red of total

25 % are yellow

15 % are green

So total % of sweets except blue = 50 + 25 + 15 = 90 %

So % of blue sweets = 100 % – 90 %

= 10 %

{ \sf \small No \:  of  \: blue  \: sweets → 40 \times 10}\%

 \sf \small \rarr 40 \times  \frac{ \cancel{10}}{ \cancel{100} }

 \sf \small \rarr40 \times  \frac{1}{10}

 \sf \small \rarr4

So no of blue sweets is 4
