40. The area of a rectangular ground remains unchanged if
length is increased by 3 m and breadth decreased by
2 m. If length is decreased by 2 m and breadth is
increased by 3m, area increased by 5 m. Find the
length and breadth of the ground.​

Answer:

let length be x m.

and breadth be y m.

area =xy.

A/q

(x+3)(y-2)=xy

xy-2x+3y-6=xy.

2x-3y=-6.............1.

.also

(x-2)(y+3)=xy+5

xy-6-2y+3x=xy+5

3x-2y=11..............2.

multiplying 1.by 2 and 2 by 3

and asubtrqcting we get

x=5

putting x=9m.in 1. we get y=8m
