Answer:

area of square is 225sq. cm

side of square = 15 cm

............1

area of rectangle=225 sq. cm

l × b = 225

x+x+40=225

2x. =225-40

2x. = 185

x= 185/2

x= 62.5 cm

Breadth = 62.5 cm

.............2

From 1 and 2

ratio=

15:62.5

3:12.5

Answer:

3:1

Step-by-step explanation:

sides of a square is equal in length

\sqrt{225} = 15 = length of the side of a square

if the breadth of the rectangle = x

then length of the rectangle = x+40

x(x+40) = 225\\\\x^{2} +40x -225=0\\\\(x-5)(x+45)=0\\\\x=5\\\\x=-45

but length is not negative.

therefore x=5

side of a square : breadth of the rectangle   is  15:5  i.e   3:1
