$concentration \: (mass \: by \: mass \: \%) = \frac{mass \: of \: solute}{mass \: of \: solution} \times 100$

$= > 10 = \frac{40}{mass \: of \: solution} \times 100$

$= > mass \: of \: solution = 400g$

$mass \: of \: solution = mass \: of \: solvent + mass \: of \: solute$

So, mass of solvent = 400g - 40g = 360g
