Mass % of the solution = 40 %(w/w)

Converting 1 L solution to mass:

Density of solution = 1.2 g/mL

Mass of solution =1 L× \frac{1000mL}{1L}  × \frac{1.2 g}{ 1mL}

= 1200 g solution

Mass of solute =  1200 g solution * \frac{40 g solute}{100 g solution} </p><p>                         =480 g solute
