The median is 40, Here N i.e. number of terms is 6 which is even

so the median will be the mean of two middle terms

Mean of 3rd and 4th term

X + 47/2 = 40

X + 47 = 80

X = 80 - 47

X = 33

I think that the question is wrong as terms should be in ascending order to get median. here x = 33 which contradicts the ascending order. The value of median should be different in order to get X greater than it's preceding terms. Kindly recheck the question.
