Given : Mean = 1500  & SD = 400  , there is an increment of  100 in the first year and each observation  is hiked by 20% in the second year

To find : New Mean  & SD

Solution:

Mean = 1500

SD = 400

Mean = ∑ xi / n

SD  =  √ ( ∑  ( xi  - Mean  ) ² / n)

there is an increment of  100 in each observation  in the first year

=> New Mean = 1500 + 100 = 1600

As each observation in increased by 100 & mean is also increased  by 100

Hence no impact on SD

=> SD = 400

Mean = 1600   & SD = 400 After 1st Year

Next year each observation increased by 20 %

Hence New Mean  =  1600  + (20/100)1600   = 1920

as Each observation and Mean is increased by 20 %

Hence Difference between mean & each observation is also increased by 20 %

Hence New SD = 400 + (20/100)400  = 480

New Mean = 1920  & SD  = 480

option C is correct
