soda. In the first vessel, ratio of coke and soda is 2:3 in second, 3:7 and in third, 1:4.
If the liquid in all the three vessels were mixed in a bigger container, what is the
resulting ratio of coke and soda?

  • The resulting ratio of coke and soda is equal to 4 : 11 .

Given :- Three vessels having volums in the ratio of 1:2:3 are full of a mixture of coke and soda. In the first vessel, ratio of coke and soda is 2:3 in second, 3:7 and in third, 1:4.

To Find :- The resulting ratio of coke and soda :-

(a) 4:11 (b) 5:7 (c) 7:11 (d) 11:7

Solution :-

In First vessel :- Let volume = 1 unit

→ coke = 1 * (2/5) = (2/5)

→ soda = 1 * (3/5) = (3/5)

In Second vessel :- Let volume = 2 unit

→ coke = 2 * (3/10) = (3/5)

→ soda = 2 * (7/10) = (7/5)

In Third vessel :- Let volume = 3 unit

→ coke = 3 * (1/5) = (3/5)

→ soda = 3 * (4/5) = (12/5)

then,

→ Total coke in bigger container = (2/5) + (3/5) + (3/5) = (2 + 3 + 3)/5 = (8/5)

and,

→ Total soda in bigger container = (3/5) + (7/5) + (12/5) = (3 + 7 + 12)/5 = (22/5)

therefore,

→ coke : sode = (8/5) : (22/5) = 8 : 22 = 4 : 11 (Ans.)

Hence, the resulting ratio of milk and water is 4 : 11 .
