lateral surface area of the new resulting cuboid.

Basically you'll get a cuboid whose lateral surface consists of 1+2+1+2 = 6 square faces. So the lateral surface area (the area of the walls) = 6 * area of a square face = 6 * 7*7 = 6*49 = 294 cm²

And in total, the cuboid contains 6 + 2 + 2 = 10 squares. So the Total Surface Area becomes 10 *area of a square face = 10 * 7 * 7 = 490 cm²
