Given : 420  grams  of  sugar solution has  40% sugar  in it.

To find : How  much  More  sugar  needs to be added  (in grams), such that

the resulting solution  has 65% sugar?

Solution:

420 gram of sugar Solution

Has 40 % Sugar

40 % sugar = (40/100) 420 = 168  g

Let say x gram sugar is added then

sugar = 168 +  x   g

Solution = 420 + x  g

Solution becomes 65 % sugar

=> 65  /100   = (168 + x)/(420 + x)

=> 65 * 420  + 65x  = 168 * 100 + 100x

=> 35x = 65 * 420 - 168 * 100

=> 35 x = 27300 - 16800

=> 35x = 10500

=> x = 300

300 g sugar need to be added
