43. From the velocity-time graph given below, for a
body projected vertically upwards,
(i) find the velocity of projection
(ii) maximum height attained by the body

i)The velocity of projection is 20m/s

(as per the graph given)

ii) Maximum height attained by the body is 20m

This can be explained as:-

Velocity with which body is projected = 20m/s

Time taken to reach the topmost position = 2seconds

(this is because the velocity of body according to graph becomes 0 after 2 seconds which happens when body reaches the topmost position)

So,Maximum height (distance)

s = ut+½at²

s = 20×2 +½×(-10)×2²

s = 40 -20

s = 20m
