Consider these are the first 5 terms of the AP.


 d = 39 - 45 = - 6 \\ \\ \\ T_3 = T_2 + d \\ \\ = 39 + (- 6) = 39 - 6 = 33 = x \\ \\ \\ T_4 = T_5 - d \\ \\ = 21 - (- 6) = 21 + 6 = 27 = y \\ \\ \\ \\ \therefore x = 33; y = 27
