The experiment follows Gay Lussac's law. According to this law when gases are combined and undergo a chemical reaction in a simple whole number ratio by volume at the same temperature and pressure.

The ratio of the reactants is 2:1:2 all of which are in simple whole number ratios which prove it follows Gay Lussac's law.
