Let the total candidates be x.

Then 10% of x = 4275

=> 10x/100 = 4275

=> x = 42750

Thus total candidates were 42750

Hope this helps

Let the total students be x
10% of x=4275
10÷100x=4275
X=(4275*100)÷10
=427500÷10
=42750
