If x <5, y <-2, then (x - 7, y - 1) lies in Third quadrant

Step-by-step explanation:

x < 5

subtracting 7 from both sides

x - 7 < 5 - 7

=> x - 7 < - 2

=> x - 7 is - ve

Hence x will lie in 2nd or 3rd Quadrant only

y < - 2

Subtracting 1 from both sides

=> y - 1 < - 2 - 1

=> y - 1 < - 3

Hence y will lie in 3rd or 4th Quadrant only

Combing both

x - 7 , y - 1  will lie in 3rd Quadrant
