think if u have 100 rs thing u sell it in 15 percent (15 rs) loss

so your sell price 85 apply in this..

85 100

170 ???

100×170/85

200

200 is main price so calculate 5 percenr loss on 200

The selling price of the watch to get a 5% of loss is $ 190

Given:

Judith sells her watch for $170 at a loss of 15%

To find:

At what price should she sell it to get a loss of 5%?

Solution:

Given that

The selling price of the watch = $ 170

The loss percentage on selling = 15%

As we know cost price formula is given by

Cost price formula = {100/(100 – Loss%)} × SP

=> Cost price of Watch = {100/(100 – 15)} × 170

= {100/85 } × 170 = 200

Therefore,

The cost price of the watch = Rs. 200

Given the loss percentage that needs to get = 5%

As we know

Selling Price Formula = {(100 – Loss%)/100} × CP

The selling price of the watch at a 5% loss

=  {(100 – 5)/100} × 200

=  {(95)/100} × 200

=  190

Therefore,

The selling price of the watch to get a 5% of loss is $ 190
