Given :  480 ml of a mixture contains milk and water in the ratio 4:2

To Find : How much more water is to be added to get a new   mixture containing milk and water in the ratio 4:3?

Solution:

480 ml of a mixture contains milk and water in the ratio 4:2

Milk =  { 4/(4 + 2) } × 480  =   320 ml

Water =   { 2/(4 + 2) } × 480  =  160 ml

Water added = x ml

Milk = 320 ml  Water = 160 + x  ml

New ratio = 4 : 3

=> 320 / ( 160 + x)  = 4/3

=>  960  =  4 ( 160 + x)

=> 240 = 160 + x

=> x = 80

80 ml more water is to be added to get a new mixture containing milk and water in the ratio 4:3
