Here x is the mole fraction of carbon dioxide in the carbon dioxide water mixture.

p </p><p>CO2</p><p>	</p><p> =2.5atm=2.5×1.01325×10 </p><p>5</p><p> Pa=2.533125×10 </p><p>5</p><p> Pa

 x= </p><p>moles of CO </p><p>2</p><p>	</p><p> +moles of H </p><p>2</p><p>	</p><p> O</p><p>moles of CO </p><p>2</p><p>	</p><p> </p><p>	</p><p> </p><p>

∴x=mole fraction= </p><p>K </p><p>H</p><p>	</p><p> </p><p>p </p><p>	</p><p> CO </p><p>2</p><p>	</p><p> </p><p>	</p><p> = </p><p>1.67×10 </p><p>8</p><p> </p><p>2.533125×10 </p><p>5</p><p> </p><p>	</p><p> =1.51×10 </p><p>−3

</p><p>So, moles of  </p><p>27.78</p><p>CO </p><p>2</p><p>	</p><p> </p><p>	</p><p> =1.51×10 </p><p>−3</p><p>  or moles of CO </p><p>2</p><p>	</p><p> =0.042moles.

Hence the amount of CO </p><p>2</p><p>	</p><p> in 500 ml of soda water is 0.042×44=1.86g
