4g of hydrogen reacts with 20g of oxygen to form water. the mass of water formed is

adiz05: oxygen is the limiting reagent so 36 g O2 gives 36g water thus 20 g gives 36*20/32
adiz05: ie,22.5g

hello
__________________________________________________________
come to the reaction

2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O

Reactents :

Hydrogen = 2 moles = 2 X 2 = 4 g

Oxygen    =  32 g
it means
4 g H reacts with 32 g of oxygen to form 36 g of water
But the second mole needs more oxygen
SO only one molecule formed of  18 g

adiz05: that is true but the answer is 22.5 g of water 36*20/32

Answer:

2H2O + O2 ------ > 2H2O i.e 4g + 32g ----- > 36g

32grams of O2 gives 36grams of H2O.

20grams =?

= 36/32 * 20

= 22.5
