According to the problem,

the quantity of metal oxide =4 gm

Metal oxide contains 1.6gm of oxygen

Therefore for one gm of oxygen 4*10/8 =20gm of metal oxide is produced.

It is important to subtract the mass of oxygen from 20gm of metal oxide to get the amount of metal.

In short, amount of metal=20-8=12gm
