4 {x}^{2}  - 12x + 7 = 0 \\  {(2x)}^{2}  - 2 \times 2x \times 3 +  {(3)}^{2}  - 9 + 7 = 0 \\  {(2x - 3)}^{2}  - 2 = 0 \\ {(2x - 3)}^{2} = 2 \\ (2x - 3) =  \sqrt{2}   \\ 2x  =( \sqrt{2}  - 3) \\x =  \frac{( \sqrt{2} - 3) }{2}

Answer:

x=(2-3)/2 is the right answer.
