Question :

4x+3y=15 , 3x+2y=11

Find x and y using elimination and substitution method .

Answer :

Here , we have two equation ,

4x+3y=15 ______Equation 1

3x + 2y = 11 ______Equation 2

Multiply Equation 1 by 2 and equation 2 by 3 .

=》( 4x + 3y = 15 ) 2 And =》( 3x + 2y = 11 ) 3

=》8x + 6y = 30 _____Equation 3

And =》9x + 6y = 33 ______ Equation 4

Subtracting Equation 4 from Equation 3

8x + 6y - ( 9x + 6y ) = 30 - 33

8x + 6y - 9x - 6y = - 3

- x = - 3

=》 x = 3

Put the value of x in equation 1 .

4 ( 3) + 3y = 15

12 + 3y = 15

3y = 3

=》 y = 1

Answer :

The value of x is 3 and the value of y is 1 .
