By using elimination method the answer is given below

we have,

4x + 3y = 17

5x -y = 13

so, y = 5x-13

putting value of y in equation 1 we get,

4x + 3(5x-13) = 17

4x + 15x -39 = 17

19x = 17+39

19x = 56

x = 56/19

putting this value in value of y

we get,

y = 5x-13

y = 5(56/19) -13

y = 280/19-13

y = 280-247/19

y = 33/19

hence required values are

x = 56/19

y = 33/19
