4x+3y=18 ------------1

3x-2y=5 ------------2

on multiplying equation 1 by 2 we get

8x+6y=36 ------------3

on multiplying equation 2 by 3 we get

9x-6y=15 ------------4

on adding eqn 3 and 4 we get

8x+6y=36

9x-6y =15

-----------------

17x =51

so x = 51/17

= 3

on putting x=3 in eqn 2 we get

3*3-2y=5

=> 9-2y =5

=> -2y = 5-9

=> -2y = -4

.

. . y = 4/2

= 2

Hence x=3 and y= 2
