Answer

  • x = -2 , y = 4

Given

  • 4x + 3y = 4
  • 6x + 5y = 8

To Find

  • x and y values

Solution

4x + 3y = 4

Multiply with 3 on both sides , we get ,

⇒ 12x + 9y = 12 ... (1)

6x + 5y = 8

Multiply with 2 on both sides , we get ,

⇒ 12x + 10y = 16 ... (2)

Now , Subtract (1) , (2) , we get ,

⇒ ( 12x + 9y ) - ( 12x + 10y ) = 12 - 16

⇒ -y = -4

y = 4

sub. y value in (2) , we get ,

⇒ 12x + 10(4) = 16

⇒ 12x = 16 - 40

⇒ 12x = - 24

x = -2

Given that ,

The two equations are

  • 4x + 3y = 4
  • 6x + 5y = 8

Multiply eq (i) by 6 and eq (ii) by 4 , we get

24x + 18y = 24

24x + 20y = 32

Subtract eq (iii) from eq (iv) , we get

24x + 20y - (24x + 18y) = 32 - 24

2y = 8

y = 4

Put the value of y = 4 in eq (i) , we get

4x + 3(4) = 4

4x = 4 - 12

4x = -8

x = -2

 \therefore \sf \underline{The \:  value \:  of \:  x \:  and  \: y  \: are -2  \: and \:  4}
