Question

4x+3y = 4

4x-2y= 1

step by step

4x + 3y = 4 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: ...{.1 }

4x - 2y = 1 \:  \:  \: ...2

subtracting 1 & 2

( 4x - 2y + 4 ) - ( 4x + 3y - 16 ) = 0

4x - 2y + 4 - 4x - 3y + 16 =0

-5y + 20 = 0

 - 5y =  - 20

y =   \frac{ - 20}{ - 5}

y = 4

Putting y = 4 in equation 1

4x - 2(4) =  - 4

4x - 8 = 4

4x =  - 4

x =  \frac{ - 4}{4}

x =  - 1

Answer

x = 1

y = 4
