Given equation : -4x +7y = 20 ..........(i)

y = 3x + 15 ...........(ii)

Substituting (ii) in (i) :

-4x + 7( 3x + 15) = 20

==> -4x + 21x + 105 = 20

==> 17x = -85

==> x = -5 ..........(iii)

Putting (iii) in (ii):

y = 3 × (-5) + 15

==> y = - 15 + 15

==> y = 0

Hence x = -5 and y = 0
