4x-y=10

or,4x=10+y

or,x=(10+y)/4...........(i)

2x-1/2-5=0........(ii)

substituting the value of x in eq. (ii)

or,2×{(10+y)/4}-1/2-5=0

or,(20+2y)/4-1/2-5=0

or,(20+2y-2-5)/4=0

or,(2y+13)/4=0

or,2y+13=0×4

or,2y=0-13

or,y=-13/2

therefore, putting the value of y in the eq. (i)

x=(10+y)/4

={10+(-13/2)}/4

={(10-13)/2}/4

=(-3/2)/4

=(-3/2)×4

=-6

hence, x=-6 and y=-13/2
