Given , 4x + y/ 8x + 9y is the duplicate ratio of 3:5 ,

as we know that ,

duplicate ratio of a : b = a^2 / b^2

so now , duplicate ratio of 3 : 5

= ( 3 )^2 / (5 )^2 = 9 / 25

now, according to question ,

9 / 25 = 4x + y / 8x + 9y

9 ( 8x + 9y ) = 25 ( 4x + y )

72x + 81y = 100x + 25y

81y - 25y = 100x - 72 x

56y = 28x

x / y = 56 / 28

x / y = 2 / 1

x : y = 2 : 1
