Hey dear here is your answer!!!!!

___________________________

We have been provided with two equations in two variables so we can find the value of both the variables by subtracting/adding the equations or substitution method.

We have one equation as,

4x - y = 9

So, 2(4x-y) = 2(9)

8x - 2y = 18

Other one,

5x + 2y = 8

If we add the equations we get:-

8x - 2y + (5x + 2y) = 18 + 8

8x - 2y + 5x + 2y = 26

13x = 26

x = 2

Now, substitute the value of x in any one of the equation to get value of y.

5(2) + 2y = 8

10 + 2y = 8

2y = -2

y = -1

Therefore, value of x and y are 2 and -1 respectively.
