Splitting the middle term.

4x² - (7- 4) x +7

4x² -7x +4x -7

x ( 4x -7 ) +1 ( 4x -7 )

(x+1) ( 4x -7)

x+1=0

x= -1

4x - 7 = 0

4x = 7

x = 7/4
