here u have to divide the equation by 4 in order to get the coefficient of x2 as 1 . So , after dividing, x2+ bx -(a2-b2)/4= 0 or, ( x+b/2)^2=a^2/4 or, (x+b/2)^2=±a/2.and from this ,x= a-b/2 or -(a+b)/2
