We can do this in two ways, either the quadratic formula or factorization.

I'll do quadratic formula:

Roots = \frac{-b + \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}\\\\\frac{-b -\sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}\\

So,

\frac{-4+\sqrt{4^2 - 4(4)(1)}}{2(4)}\frac{-4-\sqrt{4^2 - 4(4)(1)}}{2(4)}

\frac{-4+\sqrt{16 - 16}}{8},\frac{-4-\sqrt{16 - 16}}{8}\\\\\frac{-4+\sqrt{0}}{8},\frac{-4-\sqrt{0}}{8}\\\\\frac{-4}{8},\frac{-4}{8}\\\\\frac{-1}{2},\frac{-1}{2}

So, your roots are -1/2 and -1/2
