There are also points which do not lie on any of the four quadrants. For example: (1, 0), (-1, 0), (0, 2) and (0, -5) do not lie on any of the four quadrants. They lie on the x-axis or y-axis. (1, 0) and (-1, 0) lie on the x-axis.

SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

(5,0) lies in which quadrant

TO DETERMINE

We know that in two dimensional geometry the Cartesian plane is divided by coordinate axis in 4 quadrant

1. Quadrant I : Both the x - coordinates and y - coordinates are positive

2. Quadrant II : The x - coordinate is negative and the y - coordinate is positive

3. Quadrant III : Both the x - coordinates and y - coordinates are negative

4. Quadrant IV : The x - coordinate is positive and the y - coordinate is negative

Here the given point is (5,0)

x - coordinates = 5

y - coordinates = 0

Since y - coordinates ( ordinate) is zero

So the point (5,0) lies on x axis

FINAL ANSWER

The point (5,0) lies on x axis
