Weight of carbonate =10 gm

Weight of Metal Oxide = 5.6 gm

Weight of CO2 formed =4.4 gm

Molecular Mass of CO2 = 44

Equivalent Mass of CO2 =44/2=22

So the carbonate which releases 22 gm of carbonate is the equivalent Mass of the metal carbonate.

So 4.4 gm of CO2 is released from 10 gm of Metal carbonate.

So 22 gm of CO2 will be released from

=10 x 22/4.4= 50 gm of Metal Carbonate

So the equivalent Mass of Metal carbonate =50

Equivalent Mass of Carbonate ion is

=CO3/2 =

=60/2=30 .

Equivalent Mass of Metal Carbonate =50

Equivalent of carbonate ion =30

So subtracting the Equivalent Mass of Metal is

50–30=20 !!!. OK.

Probably the Metal is CALCIUM.
